But some areas don&#8217;t have close voting areas and thus need to go as far as <a href="http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/02/19/thousands-of-students-march-7-miles-to-vote/">10 miles away from their homes</a> to go out to vote. </p>
<p>Stories like this make me really happy and optimistic about the student/youth participation in the voting process. It&#8217;s unfortunate that disenfranchisement still occurs in some areas of the US and that it is so blatant.</p>
